Welcome to Soxrock.com, a site that both degrades the Yankees and exalts Red Sox fans and the Boston Red Sox. We try to exalt the Boston Red Sox more than we make fun of the Yankees, but the same rules apply... Red Sox ROCK, Yankees SUCK! |

Something we all love to do here... make fun of the Yankees! It's just so easy. Ya know, the US postal service has decided to put pictures of Yankees on their stamps. Now people don't know what side to spit on. Team Pride Four baseball fans, each from a major league city, are climbing a mountain. On the way to the top, each is arguing about how loyal they are to their team and what they would do for their team.
As the climb progresses, the odds increase. Upon reaching the top, the Mets fan shouts, "This is for the Mets," and hurls himself off the top.
Next the Brave fan yells, "I love Atlanta, this is for the Braves," and hurls himself off the mountain.
Suddenly the Red Sox fan yells "This is for everyone," and pushes the Yankees fan off . |

Fenway Park opened on April 20, 1912, the same day as Detroits Tiger Stadium and before any of the other existing big league parks. It held 35,000 fans then, and today it hol ds 34,218. The Red Sox fit 47,627 people into Fenway for a September 22, 1935, doubleheader against the New York Yankees. Fire laws in the 1940's ended that type of overcrowding and the biggest postwar crowd was 36,388 for a game against the Cleveland Indians in 1978. Fenway Park has seen the likes of many greats. These include Cy Young, Babe Ruth, Jimmy Collins, Duffy Lewis, Tris Speaker, Harry Hooper, Joe Cronin, Bobby Doerr, Johnny Pesky, Ted Williams, Jimmie Foxx, Carlton Fisk, Jim Rice and Carl Yastrzemski, and Dom Dimaggio. Fenway, as shown on the picture to the left, is located on 4 Yawkey Way, Boston, MA. Featuring a huge, 37-foot, metal green wall in left field, dubbed "The Green Monster", Fenway Park is arguably the best ballpark in baseball. It's ranked up there with classics like Wrigley Field, or the "great" Yankee Stadium. The Green Monster was painted green to cover the advertisements previously featured on the wall. After two rain delays, Fenway Park finally hosted its first professional baseball game on April 20, 1912. (The first official game played in Fenway actually occurred on April 9 when the Sox beat Harvard University, 2-0.) The Red Sox defeated the New York Highlanders later known as the Yankees before 27,000 fans,7-6 in 11 innings. The event would have made front page news hadit not been for the sinking of the Titanic only a few days before. |
